Toadly Ossum asked:

Woman calls her doctor on the phone. “Doctor, I was out playing golf and I was stung by a bee between the First and Second holes. What should I do?
The doctor replies, “Shorten your stance.”

Guy goes on a golfing vacation for a week at a resort. While there, he meets a lady and they make a hit with each other. They spend the entire week together. On his last night, he’s having dinner with her and tells her, “I’d really like to see more of you, but you need to know… I’m a golf addict. I live, breathe, and even sleep golf. So if you can accept that, I’d like to get together again.”

She responds, “Well, as long as we’re being honest with each other, I should tell you that I’m a hooker.”

The guy furrows his brow while he digests this information. Finally he responds, “Maybe you need to work on your wrist when you tee off.”

Where would be a good place to go on a family vacation?

Sunday, December 20th, 2009
golf vacation
Misty’sMom asked:

This summer we want to go on a family vacation. We have been on two cruises, to Myrtle Beach, to Estes Park Colorado, Disney World, and Marcoo Island.

My sister and I love the beach, but only if the water is warm and there are some waves, my mom doesn’t really like the beach so it would be nice if there were other things to do and my dad likes to golf and he likes to do lots of things, he doesn’t just want to go shopping or sit around.

Our budget for the four of us would be between 2000 to 3000 dollars.

Thanks alot for your help!

San Diego Golf-have the Fires Hurt the Courses?

Friday, December 18th, 2009
golf trip
Roy Eshbaugh asked:

With the headlines about the wildfires around San Diego, many phone calls have come into our offices at the Golf Guys recently about San Diego and, of course, the golf courses.

If you are planning a golf trip to San Diego, don’t let the fires stop you. We’re happy to report that all of the courses we’re affiliated with were hardly touched by the fires.

True, it affected a lot of land, but all of the courses are looking great and playing better. In fact, the area of greater concern in San Diego is what the maintenance schedules look like.

Steele Canyon Golf Club is open and ready for the challenge of the Canyon 9 or the meander through the Meadows 9. This is one of Gary Player’s Signature golf courses and one he deserves to be very proud of.

The course that was probably the most affected was Maderas Golf Club. They actually closed on October 22 when the community around the course was evacuated. They quickly reopened by October 27. They lost a couple of bridges, but they report, “The Clubhouse, Del Lago Ballroom, cart fleet, maintenance building and all on-course restrooms at Maderas are fine and intact.” We’re glad to hear that.

Maderas is one of the premier clubs in the San Diego area. If you are looking for a top-notch daily fee course that serves you like a country club member, this is it.

Another course that experienced a fire threat was Salt Creek Golf Club. The surrounding brush is a little charred but will be cleared in no time. The greens are probably in the best shape they’ve ever been in. This course is very convenient, only 20 minutes from downtown San Diego, sitting up on a hill overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

Several courses were a quite a ways from the fires but are in the midst of their annual maintenance. Mt. Woodson Golf Club completed their overseeding project and is cart-path-only right now, but were ready for you to play as of the weekend of November 17.

If you want to play a newer course in Southern California, include Arrowood on your golf agenda. With large greens, Arrowood aerates half of their greens at a time, so you can still play smooth, flawless greens on one side while the other side recovers. They’re also working on the rough and tee boxes, so they’ll be ready for your game by the end of November.

Carlton Oaks recently aerated their greens and Aviara Golf Resort overseeded their rough areas. Both will be ready for your Thanksgiving round.

Hopefully, this puts your concerns to rest. Makes plans to visit San Diego to give a boost to a community that has been through a lot this past fall. And also play some great golf.

Hit ‘em long and straight.

spur of the moment vacation by myself?

Thursday, December 17th, 2009
golf vacations
Jackie b asked:

Hi. I am looking for a spur of the moment vacation by myself. I am 40 and female. So, want somewhere safe, but not outrageously expensive. My ideal would be a spa/golf resort. But, the ones I have found are ridiculously expensive. Just want somewhere I can get some sun, enjoy the scenery, and have something to do where I can be active. Not really into water sports though. Any suggestion? The travelocity, etc sites aren’t getting me what I want.
Thank you!

Who’s played Disc Golf and where is the best place to play?

Social Misfit asked:

I have played in Oregon a little bit and love it. I live in Utah now and wish there were more places to play. It is a prefect summer sport for those of us that are not as good at regular Golf! I just am going on a trip across the country and am wondering where are some good places to go.
