Golf Vacations Insurance - Are You Covered?

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008
golf vacation
Ray Baker asked:

As golf gets more and more popular world-wide, the chances of being injured or becoming the victim of a crime increases as well. It has been estimated that there are almost 30,000 golf related injuries each year requiring hospital treatment, and that several millions of dollars worth of expensive golfing equipment is stolen every year from golf courses or clubhouses.

If you are travelling abroad for a golf vacation, you have the added risk of your clubs being lost, damaged or stolen in transit. You have to ask yourself if you have adequate insurance cover should you lose your golf clubs or injure someone or their property - be honest now!

The increasing popularity of golf is also adding to the problem. You are much more likely nowadays to find new golfers out on the course that might not be quite as aware of the dangers that face them. These new golfers are far more likely to stray onto the course when you are playing a shot and get injured, it wouldn’t be your fault, but the result would be the same.

Many courses are situated near hotels or very close to private houses, how many of us can honestly say that we have never pulled a shot wildly that has landed in someone’s front yard? Your household insurance would not cover you for damage or loss sustained on a golf course.

Golf is an expensive game to play on a normal basis, but if things go wrong and you don’t have adequate insurance, the potential costs involved could be astronomical. You need to ensure that you have cover against loss, theft or damage to your golf clubs and other equipment, but most importantly you must ensure that you have sufficient cover against damage to other people or their property.

Irrespective of your ability as a golfer, when you are out on the course there is a risk that you will unintentionally cause harm or injury to a fellow golfer. If you do, and you are uninsured, the consequences could be horrendous - and the need to be insured is equally important whether you are playing at home or abroad on a golf vacation. Think about it, if you are in Spain and you accidentally injure another foreigner with your golf ball, that person might have to be airlifted back to their own country - that cost alone could run into tens of thousands of dollars.

There are certain basics that you need to consider when you are purchasing insurance for your golf vacation:

1. Does the policy protect you and your golf equipment from damage, theft or loss 24/7 anywhere in the world?

2. Does the policy cover you to play on any golf course or driving range 24/7 anywhere in the world?

3. Does the policy cover all your golf equipment if it is lost or stolen while unattended or in transit 24/7 anywhere in the world?

You should be able to arrange golf insurance for your vacation that will also cover you for playing at home for the price of a few dozen golf balls - it’s a small price to pay for piece of mind and could guarantee that your golf vacation goes smoothly.

Why did President Bush take a long vacation after he got into office instead of worrying about Bin Laden?

Steve J asked:

Sorry, I’m trying to understand the conservative logic here…

Wait. If Clinton is at fault for not trying harder to get Bin Laden (he would have only been extradited to Saudi Arabia anyway, if found), then shouldn’t Bush have fixed Clinton’s mistake immediately by working to capture Bin Laden?

But alas, going golfing and swimming near Crawford, Texas and Camp David was far more important.
The threat wasn’t taken serious during BOTH administrations. Why can’t you repubs just answer the question?
“Who”, I am tired of doing the homework of ignorant bush-supporters. Research it yourself. It’s all over the net!

Who Else Wants a Golfing Vacation in an Irish Castle

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008
golf vacation
Geoff Kitkat asked:

Ireland is indeed a country full of wonders, and if you combine the whole island as one, ignoring the political divide, it is overflowing with historical buildings, beautiful views, friendly people, and some of the most challenging golf courses in Europe.

From Ballyliffin Lodge in the north overlooking Malin Head surrounded by two championship golf courses, and boasting luxurious accommodation that includes full sp facilities, big indoor pool, and fully equipped gymnasium, to Waterville House, a four star manor hotel situated in its own 40 acre estates overlooking the rugged, Atlantic coastline, also boasting conference facilities, sauna, , clay pigeon shooting ,fishing (in what is Irelands most famous sea trout and salmon fishery) in private lakes or even sea trips to the famous Skellig Rock, you could be forgiven if you wanted to spend months vacationing in this beautiful country.

Look at the choice available to you, each location that could tempt you to a week or two, not just for the golf – which is superb – but everything else surrounding the locality that is almost tailor-made to relieve the stresses of modern day living.

With 23 Links courses, and 17 Parkland courses of repute, finding the ideal golf venue to suit the golfer can be quite difficult, but as most of us take our partners on more than an overnight golf occasion, accommodation and other non-golfing activities really should be taken into account.

So with this in mind, I have also had a look at accommodation that is close to the major golfing centres right across Ireland. Now when I say accommodation, I am not talking about bare but homely farmhouses. No, I went on a search for accommodation that was literally dripping with other faculties for the non-golfer, and guess what? I found 6 castles (mostly in the South Western part of Ireland), 6 Country Houses (scattered evenly across the whole of Ireland), 8 superb hotels (also scattered evenly across Ireland), 9 top golf resorts (likewise scattered).

Now try as I might, I just have not had the vacation time yet to try many of these locations, so I have drawn up a list of them here for you to look at, and perhaps arrange your own vacation around one or more of them. At a later stage I will be putting together tried and tested combinations of these courses and accommodation.

Castles with Golf and many other facilities in Ireland:

ABBEYGLEN CASTLE

Sky Road, Clifden, Connemara, Co. Galway, Ireland

ASHFORD CASTLE

Cong, Co. Mayo, Ireland

KINNITTY CASTLE

Kinnitty, Co.Offaly, Ireland

DROMOLAND CASTLE

Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co. Clare, Ireland

ADARE MANOR

Adare, Co. Limerick, Ireland

GLIN CASTLE

Glin, Co.Limerick, Ireland

To get further information on any of the castles, just pop their name into a Google search box on the Internet. You will be amazed at the levels of quality and features available to you. In fact, you may even think you were Royalty for the duration for your stay.

I was suitably impressed, and I am but just a commoner from England. If you are planning this trip from the States, then your ‘WOW’ factor may go into overload.

Enjoy your vacation, enjoy your golf, and above all, enjoy the peace and beauty that is Ireland.

Golf Vacation Packages

Thursday, November 20th, 2008
golf vacation
Chris Simpson asked:

The great advantage of golf vacation packages is that you can combine a great hobby with other leisure activities and include your family in the equation too. It has become quite a fashion to buy golf vacation packages to exotic destinations that are famous for their luxurious golf resorts. Thus you can enjoy your favorite sport in a unique atmosphere: listening to the waves crushing against the shores while swinging for the perfect shot in the shade of a palm tree. Most travel agencies target golfers with special golf vacation packages and all-inclusive offers.

Furthermore it has also become common practice to combine business trips with golf vacation packages. For instance, instead of sending a group of executives for a team building reunion, a company receives discounts for larger golf vacation packages and sends its stuff to do business and golf. Hotels provide golf facilities too, beside the major courses, thus making it possible to preserve privacy and peace in the most diplomatic of ways. Studies have shown that business relationships are much more solid when dealt in a relaxed atmosphere and golf vacation packages offer the right solution for the matter.

Very often golf vacation packages include golf classes for beginners; maybe you’ve never even tried to hold a club before, but you’d definitely like the idea. This is one great idea of fun and practical spirit that you must absolutely grasp. Given the fact that most of the golf vacation packages are usually all-inclusive, even if you’re not a golf player you feel like taking the challenge of trying something new. One of the most famous golf resorts in the world, for instance, Kapalua in Maui, has its own local Golf Academy, where you can always learn new stuff all year round.

A golf vacation package to Maui would surely change your image about golf, as this is the place where real professional competitions take place every year at the prestigious PGA Tour Mercedes Championships. Besides great sports opportunities a golf vacation package brings the chance to know different places and do things you’ve never done before. All may seem to revolve around golf when you buy a golf vacation package, but once you get there to actually live it, you realize that to a certain extent golf was a simple pretext. Thus you will cherish all the aspects of a perfect vacation: sports fun, gorgeous scenery and a welcomed change for your family.

Where is a good vacation spot?

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

sunangelmb asked:

I live on the East Coast and wanted to go away with my husband in August to celebrate our anniversary. We were looking at the Dominican Republic because I love the beach and warm water, and he loves golf. We both love spas, and resorts that are all-inclusive (food). i found out it will take forever to get our passports renewed, due to a huge backlog, and even the expedited process is taking forever.. I now want to find somewhere to go where we don’t need a passport. Don’t really want to do Vegas/Cali because it’s a long plane ride for us from NJ. Anyone know of a romantic island-like setting closer to east coast/carribean like, all-inclusive resorts that you don’t need a passport?

5th anniversary ideas - cruise or beach vacation?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

mommyof2 asked:

I’m wanting to surprise my husband for our anniversary. I can’t decide which would be better and more budget friendly. I can get great discounts on places to stay for a beach location that would have a full kitchenette, but we’ve never been on a cruise (and those are all inclusive so it might save on money). My husband loves golf and deep sea fishing, which can be done with both. Any suggestions?

How to Get Discounts on Golf Vacation

Sunday, November 16th, 2008
golf vacation
Robert Riles asked:

If you are planning to take some golf vacation for a break from your usual daily routine, perhaps, you will always consider getting discount on it. Getting discounts on your golf vacation is not that hard as long as you will plan everything and take into consideration on things you need to do before jumping on your seat and getting your plane ticket.

Perhaps your best guide for the finest vacation golf vacation is the golfer magazine Golf Digest?. There are lots of golf courses advertised in the said magazine. Some of them even offering the best price there is for those who would like to grab the opportunity. You can also key-in the Internet to search for the most perfect golf vacation. But take note, you must first get a good guide before jumping in. Or you can ask your golfing buddies to confirm for the location.

In choosing your best golf vacation, you must consider the location. If say, you live in the East Coast, choose a golf location which is located somewhere in the East Coast Area only. Choosing the other side of the country will make your golf vacation a very expensive one. However, you might also consider choosing the best course from the other side of the country, but it would always take some considerations for your cost before getting the plane ticket.

Planning ahead the schedule is also one way of getting discounts on your golf vacation. When you book as early as possible, golf courses will give some discounts for your booking and you will always take the luxury of getting ahead from others. The advantage of booking ahead is that you would not have to get the hustle of getting another booking because it is already full on closer dates. There are also times when golf courses hold some scheduled tournaments so you would be advised if the golf course is full on the day you choose to have your golf vacation. However, you must be committed to your schedule. Otherwise, some golf courses would not give you the discount if you will be changing your booking.

The other advantage of booking way ahead is that you will get some discount price from your hotel bookings and airline tickets. This would lessen your cost not only to the golf course but to your travel package as well. The other advantage of planning ahead is that you would have the pleasure of time in preparing yourself for your golf vacation.

Perhaps, you can have the best discounted price for your golf vacation when you will come in groups. Of course, you will always want buddies to be around when you want to play golf. If you have mastered the golf course you played for many times, perhaps, it is high time for you and your buddies to jettison to some location to make your play more challenging. If you reserved by groups, you can block the whole golf course just for your buddies. Is it a good golf vacation experience when you have the luxury of playing the course exclusively among your buddies? Perhaps, you would agree with me. But, you should start organizing ahead of time so that your buddies can adjust to the schedules with yours.

Plan A Golfing Vacation With Friends

Saturday, November 8th, 2008
golf vacation
Gerry Franks asked:

If you have a desire to do some golfing during the holiday seasons, you can plan a golfing trip for you and your friends. During the cold winter months in the northern parts of the country, a day out on the course does not come easy. Many men and women enjoy traveling to other areas of the country where the golf courses are still open and the weather is comfortable. Many golfers enjoy a good game of golf with friends and family while enjoying a little vacation as well. Many golf courses that operate during the winter months actually have great course to golf.

Because golf is a family sport these days, everyone enjoys a holiday golf vacation in a place that has some nice golf courses. Florida is one place that everyone seems to head, but there are many other places to travel to for a good game of golf. Louisiana’s Tournament Players Club is a great course to play. The course is actually owned by the PGA, therefore, the experience is great for those who would like to play a real tour golf course. Only a short twelve miles from New Orleans, the golf course is a golfers dream come true.

This course does have some guidelines and some strict rules for playing the golf course, but that is why it is so popular. You cannot bring your own beverages or food, but the clubhouse has everything you could need to keep you energized to play all eighteen holes. The golfing shoes you wear cannot have metal spikes. They take pride in their course and keep it beautifully groomed for professional golf. You can wear alternation plastic spikes and have a great game. You do need to dress according to their enforced dress code, but it is still casual, just not sloppy.

Because the golf course is open all year, you will find that the rates are different for different months as well as for guests from out of town. You should always check with the pro shop to find out rates and schedule tee times. You can figure about four and a half hours to play the course with four people. After the game, you can sit down in the clubhouse for some drinks. Before you leave, you must try the Cajun fries and the TBC burger. If you like salads, the Cajun Cobb Salad is something your taste buds will love.

Plan your golfing vacation with friends and have a couple of great days of golfing in Louisiana. You really will find that the course is a challenge and you will see how the pros play when the PGA is in town. The golf course has a beautiful and exciting design that makes it a top rated place to enjoy a day of golf anytime of the year. One might even plan to visit a few other courses around the area on another day of golf. You can enjoy an entire vacation with golfing every day in Louisiana.
