Ray Baker asked:

The most popular destination for golfers in Spain is undoubtedly the Costa del Sol. So much so, that in recent years the area has become universally known as the ‘Costa del Golf’, which is perhaps not surprising given that there are more than 70 golf courses in this part of southern Spain, and 4 of those courses are included in the top 10 European golf courses.

The increasing popularity of this region is attributed to the all year round mild Mediterranean climate which attracts golfers from all over Europe and beyond.

A number of the golf courses in the Costa del Sol are prestigious championship courses and have played host to some of the worlds top golf tournaments like the Volvo Masters and the Ryder Cup.

Northern Europeans have for many years been taking winter golf vacations in Spain, they see it as the perfect escape from the harsh northern winters, and Spain has done everything it can to ensure that the golf experience they provide is the best it can be.

The quality of the accommodation on offer has been improving over recent years as well, and the real growth market has seen a huge increase in high end 5 Star resorts.

The summer months are the busiest time of year and sees demand for accommodation and tee times outstrip what the market can supply, and it is often almost impossible to find hotels and courses with availability during July or August.

Things to Consider to Guarantee a Great Vacation

1. If you want to take your golf vacation in Spain during the peak summer months, you will need to book very early. It is possible to obtain tee times for the most popular courses, but only if you book well in advance - you might even get a slightly reduced rate if you book early enough.

2. Consider taking your vacation between September and June, the climate is perfect for golf, and you should be able to negotiate a great deal on both hotel rooms and green fees.

3. The key to a perfect golf vacation is planning, planning, planning. Use the Internet to explore all your options, green fees, hotel rooms, car rental and flights can all be booked on line.

4. Time to improve your game? A vacation is the perfect time to take a few lessons and improve your swing. Spain has some great teaching professionals who will help you work wonders.

5. The real beauty of Spain is that it offers so much outside of golf as well. The culture, the history and the relaxed Mediterranean way of life is a real added bonus.

6. Your Spanish golf vacation can be as relaxing or as frazzled as you choose to make it. During the day you can explore the tranquil Spanish countryside, or if you prefer, you will find that the nightlife here is as wild as the west.

The Perfect Golf Vacation Awaits on Prince Edward Island

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Amy Nutt asked:

There’s no feeling that beats hitting a perfect shot. Except hitting a perfect shot against the perfect backdrop. Prince Edward Island’s natural scenery has made for some of North America’s most beautiful golf courses. And with more than 25 of them, it is the perfect place for a golf vacation.

The quality of golf on the island is completely dependent on the player behind the club. There is no shortage of available opportunities ranging from the club on the edge of town, to the five-star resort that attracts some of the biggest names in the golf world. And it’s not limited to the players. Some of the most renowned golf architects have designed courses on the island, offering breathtaking vistas that are challenge enough for any golf enthusiast.

Among the storied names there is of course, Mike Weir who debuted at the 1998 Canadian Skins Game and who will make his Prince Edward Island return again this summer. For women golfers, Lorie Kane and four-time Player of the Year, Nancy Lopez played Prince Edward Island’s Brudenell River during Canada’s first-ever women’s skins game. As for designers, Stanley Thompson, Les Furber, Rob Heaslip and Robbie Robinson have each left their mark on the Island.

The makings of the perfect golf vacation include, of course, great golf courses, but also everything that goes with it. That includes accommodations, sights, sounds, cuisine, and perhaps a little downtime at a local PEI spa.

The sights can be seen both on and off the golf course and include the sapphire blue of the ocean water, beach sands in shades of white, champagne pink and red, and mile-high sand dunes teeming with shore life and ecosystem that includes the endangered Piping Plover..

Inland this gentle island is as much renowned for its pastoral landscapes and nature trails as it is for its farmlands and PEI potatoes. And though the Island measures less than 500 miles from tip to tip, it is the perfect spot for a golf vacation, with numerous courses catering to both the seasoned pro and recreational player.

When touring Prince Edward Island on your golf vacation, you will see miles of lush rolling farmlands and coastlines dotted with fishing harbours. So it may not come as a surprise to discover that we’re well-known for our food.

Prince Edward Island is home to Malpeque oysters, cultured blue mussels and our world-famous PEI potatoes. And you haven’t experienced taste or Island hospitality until you’ve gone to a lobster supper in a church hall on a hot summer’s night. There’s also no shortage of renowned restaurants featuring an array of Island delicacies.

There is much to do on a golf vacation on this gentle island. So much, in fact, you’ll want to come back time and time again.

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Cecilia Valenzuela asked:

olf in the Fall just might be the most favorite time for golf enthusiasts. Why? Well, when you consider that temperatures in Arizona in the summertime easily exceeds the 100 degree mark or more, it is no wonder why many people choose to wait until the heat has lessened a bit.

After the long Summer heat, many are just waiting for the weather to cool down and jump at the chance to golf in cooler temperatures.

Some enthusiasts do not care about the heat and just adjust their outings to a much cooler time slot, say 6:00 am or after 7:00 pm when the temperatures have significantly cooled off.

There are literally hundreds of AZ courses where you can golf which makes Arizona the ideal state to golf in. Whether you want to tee it up in the northern, southern, central, eastern, or western part of the state, it really does not matter. That is because courses pretty much exist in all areas of the state.

It also does not matter whether you are looking for a public or a private Arizona Golf Course either, because you will easily find both.

But before you just jump on a plane or in your car, you will likely fare better if you do a little planning ahead to ensure you have a memorable outing.

First things first. You should consider who your traveling companions. Who are they? If you are traveling with your family, do you have other activities planned for those who will not be golfing?

With any vacation, you certainly want to have your plans in place to prevent any major frustrations. Ask yourself how long you will be staying and how much money do you have to spend.

Make sure you include your food, tips, any shopping expenditures, hotel costs, car rentals, special events that you or your family might like to attend, and the money needed for those in your party who may not be golfing.

Referrals are a key tool at determining where Arizona Fall golfing is at its best. Ask other enthusiasts for suggestions. Chances are if they have golfed in AZ, they can refer you to some of the more preferred courses.

You may want to do the planning yourself or may want someone else to do the planning. Either is find. Just make sure that you have delegated someone who will take care of all the particulars on your requested list.

Any good hotel will cheerfully help you with planning your Fall golf vacation. And if you need to rent your clubs for whatever reason, the pro shop can set you up with the best choices to fit your needs.

Don’t forget to check your clubs. Make sure they are in good shape. Are all of your clubs in good condition? Do you need to replace any of them? And don’t forget your golf glove, balls, tees, cap, golf shoes, towels, or any other pertinent golf equipment you will need.

Another option is to choose a travel agent who can help you make all of the necessary travel arrangements. Many treasure the thought knowing that a professional travel agent is there to handle all the little details that usually take an enormous amount of time.

Many of these travel agents have the inside golf vacation expertise to help you make the most of your trip, too. That just might be a real incentive for you to allow someone else plan your trip.

When planning, make sure your lodging location is close to where you will be golfing in AZ. Spending hours to reach your selected course does not make a lot of sense to most people.

Here are some other tips:

* Consider renting a house instead of a hotel. You will many times find a better deal especially if you consider sharing the lodging expenses with others.

*If you do not have a lot of money to spend on your trip, consider looking for a hotel that is less expensive. Many times you can still get all or most of the amenities you would find at a more expensive hotel. If you do your due diligence, you can usually locate some discount coupons. Contact the hotel or travel agent to see if they exist at that time. Call the hotel or your travel agent for details. Also consider taking along healthy snacks to save on money.

* Make sure that you plan well in advance of your target date. Hotels fill up quickly as the weather gets cooler. So, if you want to golf in AZ during a specific week, you would have a much better chance at getting your selected time slot.

*Just remember this: the sooner you choose your destination, the better choices you will have to choose from.

*Understand exactly what your Arizona golf package includes. You don’t want to be hit with additional fees at the end of your trip. That would certainly put a sour taste in your mouth.

*Make your Arizona fall golfing experience the best that it can be by planning ahead. You will be glad you did.
